YOUR NETWORK ENGINEERING WORKSPACEFIELD NOTES / 002   ·   DEVELOPMENT PREVIEW

Think it through.
Build what’s next.

Every great network starts with a good question.

Ask it in NetClaw. Move from a conversation to a project, keep the useful evidence, and plan your next change in a workspace built for network engineers.

THE CREATOR, THE PROJECT & THE COMMUNITY

NetClaw is John Capobianco’s creation.

This desktop app explores a new experience inspired by John’s NetClaw. Discover the original project, explore John’s work at Automate Your Network, and connect with the community at VibeOps Forum.

01 / MORE THAN ONE WAY TO GET TO WORK

A question today.
A better network tomorrow.

Explore how a switch replacement can move from a question to a project and a reviewed change. Start wherever your work starts.

SWITCH REPLACEMENT / LABIllustrative walkthrough
01 / 04

Illustrative workflow, not a live run. Local chat and bounded project planning are implemented; device tools and change execution remain unconnected.

02 / INSIDE THE NEW DESKTOP

One workspace.
Different kinds of work.

A quiet Chat surface. Space for project briefs. Dedicated views for your Claws, workflows, evidence, and changes.

01

Conversations worth keeping.

The local Core stores chat history. Reopen a conversation from the sidebar while preserving the shared composer draft.

02

A clearer back-and-forth.

Distinct user and assistant messages, native Markdown formatting, and exact-text copying make technical responses easier to work with.

03

Make yourself at home.

System, Light, and Dark appearance. Rounded controls. Settings in the sidebar. A sample case when you want to explore.

03 / A RISK OF NETCLAWS · THE DESIGN

One Border.
Specialist Claws.
Your direction.

01 / THE FRONT DOOR

A conversation with your Border.

The Border is the conversational entry point. The first local adapter supports explicitly selected loopback Ollama models; real model compatibility remains a live acceptance gate.

02 / FOCUSED HELP

A model for the task at hand.

The first design-member invocation returns a bounded project-planning artifact using its own model. Full member provisioning, capability routing, and external peering are still planned.

03 / KEEP AUTHORITY EXPLICIT

Specialists do not expand authority.

The broader design keeps tools and credentials scoped to each member. Lab evidence, a model switch, or a delegated task never grants production approval.

04 / BUILDING IN THE OPEN

A clear view of
what comes next.

The destination is ambitious.
Here’s where the work stands today.

CURRENT PREVIEW

The workspace foundation

The refreshed desktop and separate local Core are implemented.

  • Chat history and project snapshots
  • Rounded Chat UI and both themes
  • Explicitly saved workspace drafts
Screenshots use labeled fixtures and sample data.
NEXT VALIDATION

Prove the local model flow

The Ollama adapter and design-member task are implemented. Live acceptance is the next gate.

  • Real local model compatibility
  • Chat and planning-artifact continuity
  • Native desktop acceptance
Automated verification is separate from a live model test.
THE ROAD AHEAD

Connected operations

Prove the workflow with real integrations before expanding its reach.

  • Read-only device and MCP integrations
  • Risk provisioning and scheduling
  • Controlled execution and verification
Planned. No release date promised.
